I think it's working. Alright! Now that we've got this Pokegear running we've got to record our lines now for the voicemail! It's got to be something really, really adorable so that everyone who calls us will be able to remember how cute you two boys are. Look I've already got a script-

Quil Cyndaquil!

Hmm? Aw, there's no need to be mad. I don't know why you get so riled up, you ARE a cute little fire-breathing porcupin-OWCH HOT HOT HOT HOT HOT!

[The Gear falls down from Hughes's hand and clutters onto the ground, landing on the "OFF" button and effectively ending that 'recording' session.]

[ on the other end of this response, there's another cyndaquil— a she, and she seems to be laughing at the scene and the reaction of the other cyndaquil and it's trainer, and not too worried about hiding the fact that she's doing so out loud. it was 'a moment' thing, and "the moment" said "do what you feel like doing". and that was this.

her trainer isn't on the scene just yet, but when he does see what she's doing . . . ! ]

[Roy is far from amused; in fact he's trying to reach for the Gear to scold this girl Cyndaquil for laughing at him. Thankfully Hughes still has the height to hold it up higher than Roy can reach, and has the humour to see how funny this whole scene looks like despite nursing slightly burned fingers.]

Oh, is this another Cyndaquil? Hello there! I'm Hughes, and my Cyndaquil friend here is Roy. Hey Roy, do you wanna say hi?

[Nope, Roy does not want to say hi. In fact, Roy is voicing his displeasure at being made to look like a fool in public. Too bad all Hughes can hear is Quil Quil Cynda Cynda Quiiiil!!!!]

Wow, he sure sounds excited to meet you!

[ "don't be shy" is what chinatsu says to roy; loud, clear, and in a rather teasing fashion over the pokegear, coming out just as a cynda, cyndaquil ♪.

haha, he certainly does. when she-cyndaquil starts with a "cynda!" to hughes, and begins waddling about with the device in her paws, there's a young voice, some dropping of wood, and steps that get closer: ]

Chinatsu-! [ chinatsu loved a good session of tag, so she starts— it's too bad she's not as fast on two legs, and sooner that she would have liked, he's over her. ]

Again-? You said you'd help!! [ but nag nag nag! is all she hears. they needed wood for their fire, later! alas, chinatsu feels that she needed a break, and if she opened her tiny eyes, she would have given them an equally tiny roll with a sigh to accompany. i will help!

the pouting brigade is all on this end. he's thinking that she's playing games or something ( got to admit, those were cool— but there was work to be done! ). he takes the pokegear, then, and when he sees that she's been . . . calling people . . .

["I'm not shy, he's just an idiot!" is the hot-headed reply. Which to Hughes's ears sounds just like "Quil, Cynda"!! Hughes just laughs and sits on the bed next to Roy. But before he can ask further question, he hears someone calling for a "Chinatsu". Hughes raises an eyebrow slightly and listens in until the end, when the young boy on the other side finally realises that the Gear had been on the whole time.]

Yo! Are you Chinatsu's owner? I have a Cyndaquil too, but he's a little shy and definitely not as outgoing as your little Chinatsu sounds to be! Come on Roy, say hi to the boy on the phone!

...Cyndaquil.

[Compared to his trainer, Roy seems to be less happy-go-lucky. And he's still not happy about being called shy!! Because!! He is not!! Shy!! But anyway, he politely greets the other person on the phone.]

As for me, I'm Maes Hughes. What's your name?

Y-yeah, um— [ well if he just isn't suddenly shy— this guy was so friendly-! he gives a very soft "hi roy" to great the pokemon in return. ]

Everyone says she's spunky . . . [ but she'd take that as a compliment! with a proud "cynda!" ]

I'm— I'm Sasuke. [ a pause! right! ] It's nice to meet you, sir.
